We welcome groups of people or members wishing to organise an event. In the past the club has had weekend fly-aways to Belgium for example. Members of the public have also organised lessons for their local communities. These are far too numerous to list but include people from all age groups. If you are interested please get in touch.
Membership
It is a requirement for anyone embarking on a training course or wanting to hire an aircraft from us to become a member of the flying school (introductory lessons and starter packages include a short term temporary membership).
Memberships run from April-April. The current prices for membership can be found below. Temporary/casual visiting pilot memberships are dealt with individually.
Newcastle airport are now charging for parking outside the flying school building and also now charge us for parking permits. An annual parking pass allows you to park in the flying school car park throughout the year without the need to purchase a ticket from the airport's machine.
The annual parking pass (£20) can be purchased from the NFS office.

Pilot currency - self hire
You will need to have a checkout (a flight with an instructor where you are assessed on your general handling, take off and landing, familiarity on type, etc), if you:
- Have less than 100 hours Pilot in Command (PIC) and have not flown with Northumbria Flying School in the preceding 30 days
- Have more than 100 hours PIC and have not flown with Northumbria Flying School in the preceding 60 days
- You must also comply with our Flying Orders regarding the school’s regulations on matters such as weather, procedures, etc.

Flight Experiences
An air experience flight (introductory flying lesson) in an aeroplane is a superb way to experience the freedom of flight first-hand. It could be the start of a real aviation adventure and a possible future in the skies. If you go on to train with us, this flight time will be counted towards your licence.
It is a perfect way to find out for yourself that learning to fly really is for you, or makes a perfect gift for someone else.

Book an aerobatic experience in our Firefly aerobatic trainer, also used for flight training of the UK armed forces for the ultimate flying adventure. You will have 'hands on' experience flying our fully aerobatic aircraft, sitting alongside our experienced aerobatic training pilot, including barrel rolls and loops!
