John Corlett, CFI Chief Flying Instructor

John is a professional instrument flight instructor, with over 15,000 flying hours under his belt in a wide variety of general aviation aircraft. He has 40 years of experience as an instructor and a wealth of knowledge to support you in all aspects of learning to fly. John first learnt to fly at Sunderland airfield flying some of his favourite aircraft, the tigermoth and chipmonks.

Keith Loveridge, Instructor

Keith has previously worked as a commercial pilot for Gill Airways and Air Contractors and has over 3,500 hours of flying experience in a variety of aircraft. He first started flying instruction in 1999 and provides all instrument training as well as in flight training at NFS. He takes great pride in providing training in a safe and relaxed environment and seeing his students progress and gain their pilots licence.

Michael Holmes, Instructor

Michael joined Northumbria Flying School in early 2012 as our newest instructor. Completing his initial training at NFS and gaining his licence at 17, he has a true passion for all things that fly. He started flying at 14 and went on to go solo at 16. Michael looks forward to helping others realise their dream and training confident, capable pilots in a friendly and professional environment.

Ian Martin, Instructor

Ian is a flight instructor & examiner (Part time). He learnt to fly with the RAF at the age of 19 in the University of London Air Squadron & has been an instructor at Newcastle Airport for 15 years. His main job is Consultant Maxillofacial Surgeon & Deputy Medical Director in Sunderland. He is a frequent flyer with BA down to London where he has a number of senior roles including; President of the Federation of Surgical Specialty Associations, surgical coordinator for the National Confidential Enquiry into Patient Outcome and Death, rather like the surgical version of aviation’s CHIRP!. He is also an Honorary Air Commodore as Civilian Consultant Advisor to the RAF. In his spare time Ian likes to tour with his wife Diane also a pilot.

Ben Harrison, Administrator

Ben is a very enthusiastic member of the front line admin team and is always happy to answer any questions. Mid 2013 Ben plans on finishing his exams and completing his commercial flight training so that he can hopefully return to Northumbria Flying School to instruct. Ben enjoys planning various fly-aways for the members and helping students throughout their training.

Matt Darling, Administrator

Matt will be leaving early 2013 in order to complete his Commercial Pilots License, after working for us for over 3 years. He plans on coming back to Northumbria to do some instructing! Matt enjoys helping others prepare for their exams and answering any questions the students may have.
